Styling a Halloween costume by shopping your closet.

Halloween costume

Hi there friends!!! Happy Wednesday! Today on the blog I want to talk about Halloween! Again! And I had no idea what in the name of Tim Curry what to call this post. Wow. Anyways, Halloween is fast approaching and today I wanted to share a costume idea. Now, how many of you(myself included) have had issues with costumes? Not with finding something but something that speaks to you and stays put together until the very end of the party or trick or treat? I have. And let me say, I have found a solution. Shop that closet.

WHA?

Yes friends. I have an easy solution for easy peasy costumes for a fraction of the cost. Shop your own closet. For today’s post I am wearing an old dress and a skirt that Newchic was kind enough to send to me. Which I will write up a separate review on that later. And I bought some fae wings. This costume was so cheap! And guess what? It will not fall apart by the time we are done trick or treating.

I stuck with all black and will do my makeup a bit different for the Halloween party this weekend. I didn’t want to stray too far from what I normally do in makeup since I end up looking elvish anyways. Proof of that is here in this post.

faerie Halloween costume ideaThe cool thing about this outfit is also that you can wear it most of the year anyways. Just add wings and you are positively FAE.

I love this skirt and I love how flowy it is. I chose the black mesh dress from HM to go with because it hides the straps for the wings perfectly.  You do not have to spend 800 million dollars on Halloween unless you want to. I love this . Find things and just make something, find that inspo in your books. Have a boho dress with long bell sleeves, LOTR that stuff. It is so easy to get a Halloween costume.

Old clothes that are ripped and torn? ZOMBIE. Or maybe vampire. Who said you had to be formal to be a vampire? I think the more normal looking a vampire the scarier.

Read Anne Rice book The Vampire Lestat and you will see why. And if you want more Halloween reads and night in inspo check these posts here and here

I am so excited for this especially because it is not ELSA! And I have gotten a bunch of thank god and a bunch of BUT WHY? YOU ARE ELSA! No, no she needs a year or two off. And the weeping angel took a backseat this year, I realized that my lo did not do well with the makeup. So,yeah. MAMA needs to be recognized.

  1. You look SO cool, Stephanie. Absolutely dreamy and elf-esque. I love that you pulled things together from your existing wardrobe, how smart!!! My daughter is doing the same this year, she’s dressing up as Kylie Jenner, and the only thing we purchased was the aqua wig 🙂

    • Thank you Sheela!!! I think it turned out really well!! 🙂 That sounds awesome!
